Meet Your KZFR DJ Wk 3

Put A Face To The Voice Behind The Mic

KZFR is shortening the distance in social distancing by giving you, our listeners, a chance to meet your favorite KZFR DJ. You'll now be able to put a face to the voice behind the microphone with our Meet Your KZFR DJ campaign.

Every day during this campaign, KZFR will feature an on-air DJ with a social media vignette about themself, their radio program, personal interests, and more. This'll give you the opportunity to get better connected with the personalities you wake up and go to sleep listening to. In the time of stay-at-home orders we want our listeners to know that their community radio station is working hard to deliver cutting edge news and information and one-of-a-kind music selections.

It's thanks to them, our volunteer DJs, that KZFR can continue to bring you the unique programming you value and enjoy every day.

We are proud to introduce you to KZFR DJs Bob, DJ PhG, Diana, JohnD, Chris, Kupuna Don & Washington

Woody & Friends co-host Bob Littell - "I play three hours of the best in roots/Americana music, when I host Woody & Friends, featuring many of the performers I presented during my 22 years of booking the Big Room at Sierra Nevada."

Caribbean Dance Radio host DJ PhG - "Say hello to DJ PhG - host of Caribbean Dance Radio, selector in Stay Positive Sound, and ambassador of sound system culture to Northern California. "My show stands out with brand new music selections, original remixes, and one-of-a-kind productions, or 'dubplates'. My new project 'Rebel Daughters' is available now on SoundCloud: soundcloud.com/djphg/rebeldaughters"

One World Music host Diana Suzuki - "I am honored to have been hosting One World Music on alternate Wednesday afternoons for many years. I am grateful for the opportunity to share the wondrous World Music that I love. How can I say I have favorite genres within the world music category? There are too many. World Music offers cross-cultural knowledge and every culture has a plethora of styles within each and new styles come to life as each generation offers their interpretation of music and time goes on. Listening to music which includes language that you may not understand the words to, stretches your brain capacity to decipher the meaning. You might feel the spirit of the song, the rhythm of the beat, how it makes you move to it. Music is medicine and nourishment for our souls and can change the world!"

The Kitchen Sink host JohnD - "When I was discharged from the submarine service in 1970, I used my GI Bill to attend the Columbia School of Broadcasting because I wanted to be a DJ. Once I learned how tenuous DJ employment was, I dropped out in order to securely support my family. Jumping ahead to 1996, I moved to Cohasset & started listening to KZFR. That was my first realization that there was public radio where a DJ could still program there own show. It only took 26 years to realize my dream career."

Peace & Social Justice co-host Chris Nelson - "I believe in our KZFR mission to educate. The Peace and Justice Program brings listeners a spectrum of topics on social justice and military abolition from national leaders, activists, authors and movement organizers and we (many hosts) have programmed this unique public affairs offering since the start of the first Gulf War in hopes of creating and maintaining democratic activism."

Island Rhythms host Kupuna Don - Every Saturday Kupuna Don transports you to the beautiful Hawaiian Islands with the sounds of Aloha!

The Trip host Washington Quezada - He's your tour guide on a Sunday musical trip headed south of the border. Washington changes your latitude and changes your attitude. Bienvenidos!
